Fire & Police Services

PFI projects have been developed for fire stations, fire divisional headquarters, training facilities, and vehicles.  PPP projects are also being developed for protective clothing and vehicle management and maintenance. 

Innovative PPP projects are also being developed for regional accommodation.

Round 6 £130 PFI Bonus for English Fire Stations

'The department for Communities and Local Government announced November 12, 2008 £130m of PFI credits for three fire and rescue projects (CLG's final PFI bid round under the PFI programme).

The fire and rescue services in Cleveland, County Durham, Darlington and Northumberland (a joint project), Staffordshire and Surrey are all set to benefit from £60m, £30m and £35m of PFI funding respectively.

The modernisation of fire and rescue facilities forms part of the government's target to reduce fire-related deaths in households by 20% by 2010.'
